The Cheapest mp3 Downloads!
I recently received an iPod and it contained some free contents. Other than that, I needed to download contents in order to use it. So off I went and did some research.
My main criteria was the cheapest mp3 download service provider available. I'm no maestro nor a sound quality purist. I just want my music (or book or podcast) with me when I want to listen to them.
I looked at 3 largest providers to find out which had the cheapest mp3 downloads.
1. Apple iTunes Store Music
- Download price is $0.99.
- Limited DRM-free mp3 downloads.
2. Amazon mp3
- Download price is $0.89 -$0.99.
- All DRM-free mp3 downloads.
- Features 8 free mp3 downloads every week. (Of course, you would be lucky if any of them suits your taste. LOL)
3. eMusic
- Effective download price is $0.27-$0.40 (with monthly subscription that can be cancelled anytime)
- All DRM-free mp3 downloads.
- Comes with 25 free mp3 downloads AND 1 audiobook download for a 2-week free trial.
- Comes with 50 free mp3 downloads AND 1 audiobook download with subscription.
- Features 1 free download everyday just for installing their eMusic Discovery Toolbar (no subscription needed).
- Monthly subscription starts with $11.99 and can be cancelled anytime.
Well, I found my kind of digital music provider - eMusic is the hands-down winner! eMusic provides the best value for my money. For the price of even just the first month subscription ($11.99), I get 80 songs (50 free + 30 subscribed).
- That's about 2.5 months worth of songs with just 1 month subscription.
- That's saving about 660% from Apple iTunes or Amazon mp3 (on the 1st month)!
- That's saving about 250% from Apple iTunes or Amazon mp3 (on succeeding months)!
Before I sign off - What is DRM, you ask? It stands for "Digital Rights Management" which is anti-piracy technology. In music, copyright owners use DRM to remotely control how people install, listen to, view, and duplicate digital music files. You'd like to have DRM-free mp3 downloads so that you have the freedom to do what you want to with your acquisition.
Also, although eMusic has the best deal on a running basis, surfing through special deals in Apple iTunes and Amazon mp3 could get you some good deals as well. So don't ignore them totally. Maybe I will even scour through them and share with you whatever I find - of course, that would be filtered by Rela's lenses and taste already.

Happy listening and have a great weekend!
6 ADD YOUR COMMENT!:
You may be right about emusic being the cheapest, however, they don't have that kind of extensive collections that amazon and itunes have. So what do you do with 80 mp3 downloads a month at 11.99 when you can't find the music you've wanted. Think about it.
You have 2 weeks to get your free 25 mp3 downloads, though. If your kind of music is not there, then you still get them free with no risk! Some of us are not into some of the current noisy music... must be getting older :)
...and oh...the free audio book too!
Just heard "When Did You Fall" here in your blog. What a beautiful discovery for me today! I am listening to it over and over in the silence left behind by typhoon Frank.
Chris Rice is a very talented singer, musician and song writer. I love his music! He is very versatile as well - I always have fun with "Cartoons" and I am primed in the morning with "Smellin' Coffee".
Click on the eMusic links here in this blog and get these songs free. Get all his available music there - up to your 25 free ones!
Heard about typhoon Frank, I'm still trying to get more news re the dam that broke in Visayas. Can't seem to get more info.
Meanwhile, I hope all is ok in your front.
Thank you for your information
